Cyrotherapy

Cryotherapy is a non-invasive treatment that utilises extreme cold to eliminate skin tags, verrucae, warts, and small benign growths from anywhere on the face and body.

Cryotherapy is also useful for the treatment of cherry angiomas and skin pigmentation also known as ‘sun spots’. While these are all generally harmless, many people choose to have these removed for cosmetic reasons or to reduce and prevent irritation.

At Dr Meera, we only offer Cryotherapy services in our Brighton Clinic at present.

FAQs

  • Cryotherapy is a non-invasive treatment that utilises extreme cold to eliminate skin tags, verrucae, warts, and small benign growths from anywhere on the face and body.

Cryotherapy is an extremely effective, minimally invasive treatment with minimal downtime. It is quick, relatively pain free and patients can carry out normal daily tasks straight away post-procedure.

Please mote Cryotherapy should always be carried out by a trained professional.

  • Cryotherapy relies on a histamine response to work.

For that reason, patients should abstain from taking any anti-histamines 2 days prior to treatment and not again until the next day after treatment.

  • Medical Grade Liquid Nitrogen (at a very cold temperature) is applied to the skin tag or lesion using a Cryospray device. The extreme cold causes ice crystals to form within the cells of the lesion causing cell destruction. This in time, causes the tag or lesion to fall off or disappear with new healthy tissue underneath.

  • Non-invasive, quick and effective treatment with little to no down time.

Effects are seen within 6 weeks

  • During the Cryotherapy appointment, you will discuss your concerns with Dr Meera. The skin is then prepped and sterilised.

During the treatment, a controlled dose of liquid nitrogen is applied directly to the area, this freezes the cells of the lesion causing them to destruct. After a short period, the skin tag or growth will crust over and eventually fall off. The underlying skin will also have healed in this time.

  • Side effects include discomfort, itch and redness which should all resolve within a few days.
